23 tools that we have used lately in our Digital Marketing projects
Maze is a full-service digital marketing company in Lebanon. We are a team of young professionals with a passion for excelling. Our obsession with perfection drives us to push our limits every day.
As one of the leading digital marketing companies in Lebanon, we are raising the standards in our industry. Over the years, we have espoused a number of best practices that have helped us function more effectively. We, in this post, describe some of the tools that we use or used for varied purposes.
Workflow management and communication tools
We understand the importance of defining and managing workflows. We understand the fact that digital marketing is not a one man or one team show as well. Teams in a digital marketing company cannot work in silos. To ensure seamless communication, we use the following tools:
Trello is a tool used to organize and manage projects.
At Maze, we first started using Trello in 2016. Since then Trello has helped us organize our ideas and communicate with clients about the progress of their work.
Slack includes a collection of team collaboration tools and services.
We use Slack for internal team communications. Our teams discuss project updates, share progress reports, and discuss client requirements. We also use Slack to create dedicated communication channels for every client where each update, file and discussion is segmented and organized.
3. Google Drive
We recently replaced Dropbox with Google Drive, the immensely popular file storage and synchronization tool. At Maze, we use the tool to share files seamlessly internally and externally. One of the most significant advantages of Google Drive is that the creator is always in the driver’s seat and can choose the recipients who can just access the file, and those who can edit and comment.
Our developers use GIT to manage their project files and save them, so different members of the team may work on the same project and Bitbucket would sync their work together.
5. Purely HR
Terming Purely HR as just a leave management tool won’t do justice to its versatility. While our HR team primarily uses Purely HR to mark yearly leaves and important events (such as employee birthdays), other teams can use the tool to request time-offs. Most importantly, we use it to keep track of the time we are spending on different projects every day.
Keyword and content idea finder tools
Keywords play an indispensable role in any SEO or PPC strategy. Failure to use the right keywords is an SEO blasphemy and can restrict the reach of even well-written and organized content. To ensure no relevant keyword and content idea flies under our radar, we use a number of keyword and content idea finder tools.
Google ads keyword planner is a research tool that allows choosing the right keywords to your targeted content.
At Maze, we use Google keyword planner to find the right keywords to reach our targeted audience with a prediction on how those keywords might perform based on their volume and forecasts.

We use SEMRush to collect and provide critical data related to website traffic keywords projected, and topic research. At Maze, we understand the importance of using keywords that matter. We use SEMRush as a keyword research tool and monitor traffic generated by different search terms. SEMRush has helped us immensely in uncovering keyword trends and develop a better understanding of the best traffic generation practices.
Google Trends is a website that analyzes the popularity of any search term or topic according to the queries in Google Search across regions.
At Maze, we use Google Trends to distinguish between keywords that work and the ones that are no more than just words or phrases. Our SEO team in Lebanon uses the tool to determine the popularity of keywords. The tool also suggests trending topics, helping our content team come up with content ideas.
Social media management tools
At Maze, we have been a fan of social media marketing since day one. We realize the immense potential that social media holds. When we were coming up with our digital marketing strategy, identifying social media management tools aligned with our goals was one of our priorities. Some social media management tools that we use are:
SEMRush has also a social media tracker tool that connect with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms that can monitor posting rate and analyze the audience’s interaction with the content.
At Maze, we are currently using Hootsuite for social media services but our near future plan is to switch to SEMRush to get a better knowledge on the behavior of the audience, their interaction with the content and a better analytics on posting rates.
Facebook Developers is a platform that aims at educating developers. We use the tool to generate the preview of the content we share on Facebook.
Crowdfire is a Social Media manager that customize posts, schedule and publish accounts and manage followers.
This tool was used as our first option for social media management and we no longer use it.
Hootsuite is a social media management platform designed to integrate a company’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media accounts. We use Hootsuite to create streams for different client networks, which helps us schedule posts ahead of time. We also use the tool to monitor the results of our social media campaigns and share them with clients.
Content writing tools

In 2019 we started using SEMRush and our best interest in this tool was the SEO toolkit. We use SEMRush to audit websites, identify our top organic keywords. We use Never Bounce to clean our email list and eliminate bounces to achieve higher deliverability.
2. Amazon SES
Amazon web services (AWS) provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies and governments.
AWS Simple Email Sending (SES) is much more than an email gateway. Amazon will ensure deliverability of your emails, however, do not neglect your bounce and complaint percentage.
We send more than 100k emails daily using SES and we couldn’t be happier.
Sendy is a self hosted email newsletter app that lets you send trackable emails via SES.
Sendy is our MailChimp alternative. This self-hosted system allows to send automated newsletters that we can track. It offers most of the great features other big providers do, for the fraction of the price.
Sendy works best when combined with Amazon SES.
Website Speed Audit
In July 2018, Google started using mobile page speed as a ranking factor for its search results. At Maze, our web design & development team strives to build faster and more reliable websites. In order to do this, we need GTmetrix’s help.
GTmetrics is a tool that analyzes your page’s speed performance.
We use this tool to make sure the website we are developing delivers the fastest experience which will help our page speed optimization efforts.
We count a lot on this tool to analyze and optimize our websites, to check our site speed and compare it to market average. In short, without this tool, we wouldn’t be able to build higher performance websites.
We are writing a dedicated article about this tool and how a digital marketing company can use it and benefit from it.
